Social Media Manager


The Social Media Manager will be responsible for managing Orbis UK’s social media channels (currently Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – with Instagram being added in 2019). A key member of the Communications team, you will combine strong technical skills with the ability to engage and motivate audiences through social channels.

You will play a key role in growing our supporter base through delivering engaging social campaigns that will not only raise Orbis’s profile and understanding of our work but will also support fundraising activity. You will be an excellent communicator with a keen eye for detail and strong creative flair. In addition you will monitor and evaluate performance and share learning so that we are confident we are reaching the most appropriate audiences online.

You will be joining Orbis UK at an exciting time as we have rapidly grown over the past few years, with our income increasing from under £3M in 2010 to over £8M in 2017. We are also in the midst of an organisational wide digital transformation programme. We are looking to innovate and adapt to ensure we are best placed to succeed in a digital climate. Every member of the organisation is involved in this process and your input will be vital.

£32,000 - £36,000 per annum, subject to experience

The main responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and deliver a strategy to grow Orbis UK’s social media reach and engagement in line with our organisational objectives
  • Plan, execute and optimise organic social campaigns
  • Coordinate and maintain Orbis UK’s organic social content calendar, working with all teams to ensure their objectives are being met
  • Create engaging and relevant content, including short films and visuals, that encourage people to take action and help grow our online audience
  • Setting, tracking and exceeding KPIs for organic social content, by campaign and by platform
