As Miss Fiona Dean made clear in her email, Orbis can have an immense impact on the lives of people living with avoidable blindness.

When our Flying Eye Hospital arrives in a country with limited access to eye care, we bring not just much-needed treatments for devastating eye conditions, but also hope for the future.

By training local specialists, supporting hospitals and spreading awareness in communities, we are giving the gift of sight to untold numbers of people for years to come. This is our goal with Operation Sight, our ambitious initiative to provide optical, medical and surgical treatments to one million people by the end of 2018.

Shockingly, there are still around 30 million people around the world whose blindness could be avoided. And millions of them are children.

Imagine the difference it could make to a child’s future if they could receive the gift of sight – they could go to school, find employment, earn a livelihood, see their way out of poverty.

The simple fact is that we can only reach people if we have the support of those who share our vision for a better world. That’s why your donation is so vital to our work.

Please, take a moment to make a gift to Orbis. With this simple act of generosity, you could bring the gift of sight to people who are currently resigned to a lifetime of darkness.

Our targets for Operation Sight are not going to be easy to reach, but with enough supporters driving us forward, we are confident that we can reach our goals and transform millions of lives.
